3 Reasons Your Skin is Drier in Winter
The Elements
The cold air and increased winds in the winter can draw moisture out of your skin and cause it to become chapped.Indoor heating
The heating in buildings has a lower relative humidity than the colder air outside so it pulls moisture out of your skin.Hotter Water
When the temperature drops, we have a tendency to run hotter water in our showers and when washing our hands to help us keep warm. That hot water is more drying for your skin than the cooler showers you take when the weather is nice. What can you do about dry skin?
First make sure you have a good moisturizer for your hands and body. Avon has products to fit every need from Body Lotions, to Creams to Body Oils. For help in choosing the right product for your unique needs email me and I'd be happy to give you a free consultation.Use a moisturizing body wash. Many body washes now have moisturizers mixed in to help keep more moisture in your skin. Shop Avon Body Wash
Moisturize before getting out of the shower. Apply your Bath Oil or Body Lotion while your skin is still wet. This will help seal in that moisture. Shop Avon Body Oil
Shop Avon Body Lotion
Use a richer or thicker formula than you use in summer. Switching to a Body Cream or a Gel type moisturizer will be more effective for winter dry skin. Formulas that were too heavy, sticky or greasy in the summer may be just right in winter. Shop Body Cream
You may even want to switch up what you use on your face. If you are using a lotion and your face still feels dry, switch to a cream. If you're already using a cream and still get that tight feeling or parched look, try switching to a richer formula or add in a moisturizing treatment.
